Dr. Mercurio specializes in applied statistical analysis and econometric modeling. He has applied these skills to both public and private litigation, and other legal matters, and to analysis of electricity load data in conjunction with impact evaluations for various demand response tariffs and programs. Dr. Mercurio’s skills and experience in applied statistical analysis include: analysis of longitudinal (panel) data, limited dependent and latent variables, analysis of time series data, including ARIMA modeling, event studies, forecasting, and simulation, and survey design and sampling analysis.
Dr. Mercurio was engaged in the design and analysis of a stated choice (conjoint) survey of consumer attitudes and willingness to pay for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) as well as levels of interest associated with different electricity pricing options to assist utilities in planning efforts. He also assisted in the development of enrollment forecasts and ex post load reduction predictions in order to generate ex ante load reduction forecasts for PG&E’s SmartRate and SmartAC programs using both regression and survey techniques.
Dr. Mercurio holds a Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University and a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Boston University.
